Maudsland dental care team members

Dr Caleb Park BDSc (Hons) – Principal Dentist

Caleb graduated with Honours in Dentistry from the University of Queensland after completing his secondary school studies at Emmanuel College in Carrara. As a proud local, he has been committed to providing dental services to the larger Gold Coast community since 2007 and believes that quality dental care can and should be made accessible to everyone.

Prior to joining Maudsland Dental Care, Caleb worked in both private practice and in government dental clinics where he was involved in mentoring and supervising dental students, treating children in dental vans and working with special needs patients at the Gold Coast University Hospital. He upholds honesty and integrity in his professional practice and will always give his patients a thorough explanation of treatments recommended as well as an honest professional opinion. He has a gentle nature and keen eye for detail in treating his patients and is particularly keen on helping patients with dental phobias overcome their fears of treatment.

Aside from making dental services accessible to his local community, Caleb is passionate about serving those in third world countries and has been involved with various dental volunteering teams who have traveled to Cambodia. On the weekends you’ll find Caleb at the local youth group helping to mentor young adults, trying to play the guitar or watching whatever code of footy is on the television.

Dr Benjamin Thai BDSc (Hons) – Dentist

Dr Benjamin Thai is the founder and principal dentist of Underwood Dental Care (established in 2009) and took over ownership of Maudsland Dental Care (previously Maudsland Dental) in early 2017 where he will be practicing part time.

Ben completed his training at the University of Queensland where he graduated with Honours in Dentistry and was awarded the Gordon Christiansen prize for highest achievement in oral and maxillofacial surgery during his studies. He has worked in both the public and private sector as well as previously holding roles as clinical supervisor at the University of Queensland’s Dental School.

Ben’s vision for Maudsland Dental Care stems from the ethos at Underwood Dental Care where all patients are treated with the highest quality of care and respect in a family centred practice. Ben has a gentle and caring chair-side manner and takes great pride, care and attention to detail in presenting and explaining treatment plans in all areas of modern dentistry. He has a special interest in Orthodontics, Implant dentistry, Cosmetic dentistry and children’s dentistry.

Outside of dentistry, Ben keeps busy with his life as a father of two young boys (plus a four-legged fur baby) and relaxes by playing basketball, experimenting in the kitchen and compiling travel itineraries for future holiday destinations.

Dr Amos Wong BDSc (Hons) – Dentist

Dr Amos Wong graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in Dental Science. He grew up and spent the earlier days of his childhood in Malaysia, and later migrated to Australia with his family in 2008. Currently, Dr Amos also works at the University of Queensland Dental School as a Supervising Dentist, and has been awarded a Associate Lecturer title.

Dr Amos enjoys taking care of his patients’ health through dentistry, which he views as a privilege. He particularly enjoys preventive, restorative and the surgical aspects of modern dentistry. He is committed to providing the best dental care to all his patients, treating each one of them with respect and care.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Amos is involved in leading a Christian youth group in Sherwood and enjoys free time playing sports and fishing. Last year was a bad fishing year for him, but he is optimistic about the new year! Do ask him to show you a picture of the massive flat head he caught!

Dr Daphne Ho – Dentist

Daphne was born in Darwin and spent her childhood years in Singapore before migrating to Brisbane with her family. She completed a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Master of Dentistry with distinction at Griffith University. Prior to working at Maudsland Dental Care, Daphne worked in private practice in the Lockyer Valley.

Daphne is a caring and gentle dentist who loves getting to know her patients and making them comfortable so that they leave with a smile. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, but particularly likes family dentistry and prosthodontics. Daphne loves to treat patients of all ages but gets along especially well with young children – she even knows how to make balloon animals!

Outside of the clinic, Daphne enjoys playing piano for her church, keeping active with tennis and a good catch-up with friends and family over bubble tea.
